Edith Marion Loveman

Edith Marion Loveman (nee DeCosterd) passed away on August 8, 2021. Much Beloved wife of the late Edward H. Loveman, Esq. Cherished Companion of the late Dr. Neil Wallach. Precious Daughter of the late Mildred and Fredrick DeCosterd. Very Loving Mother of Cynthia Ann Loveman, the late Karen Michele Loveman, and Cynthia’s husband, Dr. Alan R. MacNeil. Dear Godmother to Kathleen Bohl. “Other Mother” to Marcy Schneck. Loved by her cousins, Marilou Van Zanten (Martin), Althea LePre (George) and Lorna-Jane Bremer, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Also left to mourn are Edith’s Incredible and Outstanding Nurse, Kim DeFries, and Kim’s caring family - Justin, Christian, Caden, and Gail. Edith will be missed Donna Rainford, Rochelle and B.J. Perigo, and others who have been honored to know Edith during the last few years. Treasured Friend to many including Kathe Bohl Cassel, Dorothy Cabral, Karen Pack, Sandra Sarro, and Karen Blam. For over 30 years, Edith was a psychologist for the State of New York, and was dedicated to improving the lives of the mentally handicapped. Edith very much enjoyed music, dance, and art. Edith was an inspired dancer, actress, and painter. Edith was an avid reader and film-lover. Edith’s passion was people. Edith was keenly interested and engaged with people and their lives. Edith was very bright, fun and had a great sense of humor. Edith was elegant, sophisticated, and had an incomparable flair and energy for life. Edith is happy to be reunited with Ed, Karen, her parents, family and friends, and her many dogs and cats, including Kim’s Beloved Blue. Edith will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. The world is less bright now that Edith has left us. In lieu of flowers, donations to Edith’s favorite organizations - the East Islip Public Library and the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Great River, NY – would be deeply appreciated.

A memorial visitation for Edith will be held Friday, August 23, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. A burial of ashes will occur Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at North Babylon Cemetery, Livingston Ave, Babylon, NY 11702.
