Brooklyn born and bred, Ed was a left-handed bagpiper, an avid crossword player, a Dodgers & Mets fan, and he always had a good joke and hearty smile at-the-ready, for anyone.
Ed pursued many studies (psychology, business management, education, engineering) at Fordham, LIU, Santa Clara & San Diego Universities and UCLA, and spent two years at St. Peters College (Paulist Fathers’ Seminary). He aspired to be a pilot but due to his eyesight instead became a proud member of the U.S. Air Force reserves. He met his wife Mildred on Long Island during this time. He then worked as a computer tech salesman which moved them to CA, MA, back to CA and eventually back to NY (4 kids later). He became a masterful printer (owning a Sir Speedy franchise then running the print department at Valley Stream CHSD), a tax preparer, and loyal member of AOH (Tara Pipes and Drums), Saffron United and the KofC.
Ed loved a great historical action novel, sitting by peaceful waters, his simple daily routines, our family dogs, and playing pipes in parades or to commemorate loved ones on meaningful occasions. Taking care of his parents, wife and kids were always top priority. The bigness of life was found by him in the “smallest” of things and moments. He modeled kindness, patience and hopefulness and leaves a legacy of gentle goodness with those lucky to have known his huge heart.
Ed is predeceased by his beloved parents (Virginia and Thomas Eagan), two brothers (Thomas and James “Patty”), wife (Mildred), first daughter (Jeanne), son-in-law (David) and daughter-in-law (Jennifer). He is survived by his daughter Sheila George, son E. Timothy Eagan, daughter Erin Pace (son-in-law Bryan), and grandchildren Brenna Eagan and Aiden Pace.
