Ina C. Salatto

INA C. SALATTO, 88, of West Babylon, NY passed away on November 1, 2015. She was affectionately known as Star Eyes to her late husband, Dr. Patrick Salatto. Ina is survived by her children: Patricia Evenson (Gary), Mark Salatto (Barbara), Susan Crawford (Greg), Gary Salatto (Katie), Patrick Salatto (Krista) , Ina Lisa Hetzler (Frank), and Nancy Delghan (Michael). She was grandmother to Ryan, Matthew, Joseph, Daniel, Courtney, Sydney, Christopher, Patrick and Finnegan. While raising her children, Ina somehow found time to play the piano, sew, and embroider. Later in life, she developed an affinity for watching backyard birds while working on hundreds of jigsaw puzzles.

She grew up on a farm in Shelbina, Missouri with her parents James and Anna Belle, and her sisters Twyla and Ruby. After graduating from Kirksville School of Nursing in Missouri, Ina travelled with her physician husband and eventually ended up in New York and lived in the Babylon, Long Island area for more than 60 years.

The family wishes to sincerely thank those who helped care for Ina in the last years of her life. The tough Missourian was nicknamed the Energizer Bunny because of her remarkable ability to continually overcome repeated serious medical conditions.

Visitation November 5th and 6th from 2:00-4:30 and 7:00-9:30 at Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home, 448 West Main Street, Babylon, NY. A Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home at 10:15 Saturday November 7th. Interment to follow at Saint Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
