I learned the news of Jim's passing last week when I went back to visit his companies website. I am stunned to learn and saddened for him, his family and those close to him.   I was with Jim the week prior on a search and had worked with him years ago...even though I had only spent a few hours of my life with him I felt like I knew him well....he had that big of an impact that quickly...I can only imagine the incredible impact he had on those close to him...he was a very special man...prayers for Jim, his family and all those lives he touched. Jim was my boss when I had the awesome opportunity to work as part of the SearchWide team for several years.  To this day, in my current role at the Fond du Lac Wisconsin Visitors Bureau, I manage, work with, and coach my team in several ways that can be traced right back to Mr. Carra.  He was tough but fair and quite likely the best manager I have ever had (not the easiest but the best).  I was shocked and so saddened to hear of his passing.  Rest in peace, sir! Craig Molitor

I just heard the news of Jim's sudden passing in an industry newsletter.  It took the wind literally out of my sails!  Jim was always a sage voice in the career hunt; he was honest with candidates and prepared us well.  Jim placed me not once but twice and each time it was great to work with him and Searchwide.  I owe so much of my and my family's success to your husband's, your Dad's, your son's, your brother's ability to gauge a person against the needs of his client companies and come up with matches that worked for all involved,  That is a gift!  And he always gave back too.  Jim will be missed.  My thoughts, prayers and sympathies go out to you all and I wish you time to reflect and eventually remember all the good times, memories and moments that you shared with one of the great guys God shared with us all!

Jim, was a great life line for me more than once.  He was a great mentor and  advisor.  I will miss having him in my back pocket when I needed him.  I'm sorry for his families loss and Search Wide's.  He has left us all way too soon.

I worked with Jim at the Fairmont Chicago many years ago and he was  a great guy. Over the years we would run into each other at industry events and just catch up, he was always a gentleman. We would talk and laugh about the funny things that we experienced at work. 

This earth needs more people like Jim,  he was a kind person and had a great laugh. Prayers to his family.

This was such sad news. From 1986 in Dallas Texas, where Jim was a young sales manager under my employ, to the wonderful conversation I had just this past August with him in Minneapolis,  he was always a joyful, caring man. I knew Jim since 5th grade. Although we ran with different groups of friends we always knew each other was there. I had been in touch with him more recently when he reunited with Vicki. I told him how happy I was for both of them as I am in a similar relationship. I asked how it was worked being apart from each other. He was so happy. He always had a kind word and a smile on his face. He definetly left a mark reading all of these wonderful comments. Rest in peace old friend. You will be missed by many. May Vicki, James, Lucas, Sophie and his entire family find the strength to be able to get through the next few days.

Though I haven't seen Jim in a number of years I always enjoyed catching up and hearing his take on industry trends. His smile was contagious, his spirit vivacious, and his sincerity real.
