Riggio, Josephine Rita, of Brooklyn, Lynbrook and North Babylon, NY, passed away on June 5, 2025. She is now reunited in heaven with her devoted husband, Peter S. Riggio. Loving mother of Francine Voulo (Allen) and Mauretta Scano (Michael). Adored grandmother of Jennifer (Robert), Peter, Victoria (Damon), Amanda (Tony), and John (Michael). Beloved great-grandmother of Allen James, Eliza, and Dante.
Known throughout the tristate area for her meatballs and lasagna, Josephine will also be remembered for her sharp wit, impeccable and entertaining storytelling, and her infectious laughter. Rumor has it, she opened a few times for Connie Francis, but we are unclear how she found the time while cooking for all the neighborhood clergy. The eight Spagnola siblings are all reunited in heaven at last.
A visitation for Josephine will be held Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Claude R. Boyd/Spencer Funeral Homes, 448 West Main Street, Babylon, NY 11702. A mass of christian burial will occur Monday, June 9, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 666 Albin Ave, West Babylon, NY 11704.
