June Surace

June Surace of West Islip, New York, passed away on January 16, 2025, at the age of 87. She was born on December 29, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, to Kenneth Gotthelf and Anna Gardner. June was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Surace for 30 years, and devoted mother to Joseph Surace (Joanne), James Surace (Theresa), Nancy Piciullo (Frank), and John Surace (Suzanne). She was a proud grandmother to Janine, Chelsea, James, Frankie, Jaime, Tyler, Joseph, Emily, Kaylee, Nicole, Caiti, and Stephanie, and cherished great-grandmother to Declan, Christopher, Juliette, Gregory, Carter, Siena, Bryson, and Peyton.

June was the loving sister of Lillian Simone and the late Kenneth Gotthelf. A dedicated homemaker and mother, June also worked alongside her family at Red's Auto Body and Cool Tech. She was known for her warm heart and generous spirit, especially her love of cooking, baking, and sharing meals with family, friends, and neighbors. June was a true "professional feeder," always ensuring no one went hungry and her home was a welcoming space for all.

Her passion for family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. June had a special love for Christmas, often bringing festive joy to all who gathered around her table. She also found great happiness in fun music and vacationing at Woodloch Pines Resort, where she and her family made cherished memories over the course of more than 20 years.

June's legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

A visitation for June will be held Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A mass will occur Monday, January 20, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 455 Hunter Ave, West Islip, NY 11795. A burial will occur Monday, January 20, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at North Babylon Cemetery, Livingston Ave, Babylon, NY 11702.
