Cherished grandfather of Joseph Murphy, Colleen Murphy and Brendan Murphy. Dear brother of Mary Moloney and Joan Harrington. Leo was preceded in death by his brothers Barry Murphy, Curley Murphy and Peter Murphy.

Funeral Mass Friday 10:30 am at St Joseph Church, 39 North Carll Ave., Babylon,, NY 11702. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Tidbits about Leo J. Murphy
> Leo Murphy was born in Castletown Berehaven, County Cork, Ireland, to Peter C. Murphy and Josephine Lynch, the 4th of their 6th children.
He considered himself a romantic refugee as he followed his beloved Noreen to New York in 1958. They were married for 63 years.

> Leo’s career was in the transportation industry: driving cars for the family business Berehaven Motor Works, worked 33 years at TWA , and 8 years at the Long Island Rail Road.
>
> Leo loved his family and keeping Irish traditions alive. He is a Life Member and past President of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 2, Babylon, New York. He also served as corporation board chairman, founder of the Then And Now club, and was a member of the Hibernian Players. In 1999, Leo was Aide to Grand Marshall Maureen O’Hara in New York City‘s St. Patrick’s Day parade.

> Leo’s faith was tremendously important to him and he served as a lector and catechism teacher at Saint Joseph’s RC Church in Babylon.

> A lifelong dedicated supporter of the Gaelic Athletic Association (Up Cork!), he was a lover of all sports.

> He will be sorely missed by his family, his many nieces, nephews and friends and leaves huge shoes to fill in many domains. May he rest in peace.
