Louis, I look at the picture of you and my son Michael on the wall in our den. I am proud to be your uncle and Godfather. You were a fine young man, athletic and strong, yet sensitive and caring. You were an outstanding athlete in several sports, but because wrestling was the sport I coached, I was most proud of your wrestling prowess. I will be with you in heaven, God Bless you my Godson! I don't know where to start, first of I want to apologize for not coming to your funeral, There is not a day that passes where I do not regret being able to see you one last time, I guess that's not what I wanted my last memory of you to be. You were one of the only true friends I have ever had when my family was not around you made me part of yours. Thanksgiving dinners etc. You will always be a part of who I am, and I promise I will bring Liam to play with Sierra and Ava and check in on them whenever I can, Big Lou and Yvonne I am truly sorry for your loss.

Lou, it feels like yesterday that I met you sitting on Danny's porch. You were always so kind and had a genuine heart in everything you did. Through the years we always reconnected somehow and to me you were always the same Louis that I always knew. You were a great father and enjoyed even the simple things with your daughters like swinging on the swings to to taking them to the pool. Those times with your daughters I believe were the most blissful to you. I always told you how proud I was of you and the father you are. I truly meant it.  We will never forget you! Dear Lou,

 I wanted you to know a few things.  First off  you were a great person in your soul....I loved you very much...When I looked back  this past week I realized  that you were the first person of my age that I wanted to impress...I guess it's because you were so Cool...I knew you since Kindergarten but it wasn't until a day we were riding bikes after 6th grade graduation that you said we were friends.  It meant a great deal to me ...I guess I had wondered previously to that, you weren't always easy to read,.... But you and I became such wonderful friends later, throughout High School and even more so in our early twenties.  There are so many laughs and good times I remember.  Laughing in driver's education, hanging out behind JFK, the list goes on and on.  But I want you to know that when I think of you, I will remember you holding up 3 fingers the moment after winning the league championship as a senior...Those few brief moments of satisfaction you enjoyed, when the pressure you put on yourself and had placed on you by others was lifted...It was a brief moment when your potential was being fulfilled, and  your smile just filled the gymnasium...I want you to know that I enjoyed that moment  with you. I'm so sorry this happened and I am sorry I couldn't be with you today.  For this moment will be remembered by many.  It is a day we say goodbye to someone who gave us so much joy and so much laughter....I know today will be remembered because you were a good person and you were loved more than I think you knew... You were loved by so many people, I wish I could celebrate with them...I'll see you around, friend.

I would like to thank the family for allowing me to speak tonight. I think of this a huge responsibility. What do you say? How do you say goodbye? So I invite you to listen to the family..through me.  For those of you who don't know me, My name is Cliff and am one of louis' many oldest friends. Tonight I stand in front of you to celebrate the life of my friend. We all have different memories of Louis and I wanted to share some of my own. This is about my Louis..my friend…

I remember the first time I met Louis. He was one of the cool kids. I was riding my bike with some friends down by JFK and he was down there as well. Next thing I know he is chasing us and we were trying to get away from him all the way home. He started to call my house all the time and I always thought he was trying to beat me up(he said he knew karate). So one day he invited me back to JFK…I was prepared to get beat up by a 50 lb shrimp. When I got there he invited me to his house….i said to myself…ok maybe this is where it is going to happen. That day never came…I asked him why he was inviting me to jfk and his house and he said “I just wanted to be friends”. From this day forward we had a special bond..we did everything together. We went after the same girls..wore the same clothes(including matching MC hammer outfits to homecoming)..we even buzzed each others side burns. I was always so jealous of his side burns ?

I will never forget the 1st time I slept over his house…I knew we would be friends forever..because Lisa walked in. I said to myself…oh yeah..i can get used to coming to this house ? he said, don't even look at her… Or I will break your legs…remember…I know karate

Louis and I like many people had different lives and sometimes drifted apart. But we always came around. The last thing he said to me was in a text…he said something that everyone says every single day and we take it for granted. He said “hope all is well” and he meant it. Louis was the kind of friend that asks how you are doing and waits to hear the answer.

What is it that we remember when we think of Louis? I think anyone that has ever met him would agree with me when I say it was his warm heart and beautiful smile. His smile was his trademark. If he saw a friend without a smile..he would give him one of his.... It's hard to think that we are not going to get to see him anymore  He is now in a better place looking down at all of us and hopefully smiling over me up here trying to talk about him

He told me he loved me every single time we spoke. And I really truly believe that he would do anything for anyone. And that's how he was..he was generous, kind and giving..he would give you the shirt off his back.  And he was so proud….proud to be a friend, a son, a brother, a grandson, a nephew, a cousin and most of all..he was so proud to be a daddy. His eyes lit up when he spoke about Sierra and Ava.

Lou, I will do my best to check in on your daughters from time to time…and can only hope that as they grow up..they find a friend such as the one I found. I have learned more from you than you would ever know. I looked up to you and was always so proud of you. I will cherish every moment we have spent and every moment that is lost.

You know…I mentioned that we were here to celebrate the life of louis…I have to be honest..right now, I am not in the mood to celebrate, I  find it hard to think positively..but then I think of the alternative. We have a chance to make this world a better place to live in. So our children can grow up and enjoy the same freedoms that we did. Times have changed..and today with Louis' passing..we need to embrace each other and do good things for one another. So the next time you are upset because your cell phone breaks..or someone cuts you off on the highway, Just remember…it doesn't matter..it isn't important. The only thing that is important is life itself. 

I asked a handful of our friends if they can have one more conversation with Louis..what would they say to him? The response ..WE will miss you. WE will remember you. WE will dream about you. WE will forever be grateful for knowing you. WE will never forget you. Many friends walk in and out of your life..but only true friends will leave footprints on your heart..

Lou, we love you and we miss you so much.. and I know that one day we will meet again..but until then may the memories of your smile be forever embedded in our hearts.

I don't know how to put into words all that you mean to me and all that I am feeling. But I just want you to know that I am proud to be your cousin. But you were more than a cousin, you were a friend and you were a brother. You stood beside me when I felt alone, and you made me a part of your family and the lives of your beautiful daughters. I will carry that with me forever. I lost a part of myself when you died, the world grew a little bit darker, but I promise to celebrate who you were, who you always be and never forget you. My Dear Louis, I am so happy that you and I Had a very special bond between us. My love for you was so much more then the normal Aunt nephew relationship. I am so  proud of you and I am so glad I told you often. I know I teased you when you started complaining and would tell you WAH WAH WAH!!!  I know I made you laugh and Im sure I pissed you off but you knew how much I loved you..... I never met anyone as dedicated to their children as you were to yours. You were both mommy and daddy to your girls and in their short time on earth you taught them more then any mother and father combined. Louis my heart is breaking knowing that I wont see you or talk to you until the day the Lord calls me home..   My memories of you will forever be in my heart  .....    I am going to miss our phone calls and your pit stops at grampa's ..  I will whisper your name to Bella  everyday and tell her you love her.... My first cousin. Your were always more like my little brother. We were all so fortunate to have grown up with you on your mom and dad's side. You were like a brother to all of us. You had such a wonderful, happy childhood--you never stopped smiling and had a sparkle in your eyes. I remember being with you and Lisa every Christmas Eve and day. We went to every first day of elementary school together, the 4 of us, me, Michael, you and Lisa. You had the best disposition of all of us-always easygoing, always smiling. You excelled at every sport you tried, soccer, bmx bikes, skateboarding and wrestling. Like an older cousin would, I always felt protective of you. There was really never anything to protect you from--well, there was one thing. I cannot talk about you without mentioning what a stunningly beautiful face you had, so yes I had to protect you from all of those girls, even my friends--3 years older! We had some really good times at the beach together. When you guys would stay over with us at Atlantique we would go to Ocean Beach in a pack with Michael, Huffy, the Nonnemacher's and Croteau's. I remember you on Ronnie Croteau's shoulders all the time on our way to Ocean Beach. It was impossible not to love you if someone knew you. I really don't know anyone that has a heart of gold like you. That cliché doesn't even begin to describe the compassion you had for other people.
You and I could always talk about anything and we both knew it would not go anywhere. I am glad we had the relationship that we did and that we could confide in each other. Anyone who really knows you and me, knows we both wear our heart on our sleeve.
I also have wonderful memories when we were older on Fire Island, BBQ's at my parents and yours, holidays together and good times at our house in Center Moriches.
That compassion for others made you such a wonderful father. The love you had for your girls was so deep and tangible and so obvious.
 You never hesitated to call me and John to see how he was doing. Again, you always felt so deeply for others. I just want you to know that I am going to do everything in my power to help your little girls. There are so many of us and they will be surrounded with love. When I look at them, I see you. I promise you they are going to be okay.
I am perfectly confident that you are in paradise. I know this because you were a believer and that is all that is required for salvation, as John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son and whoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life."
 I cannot wait to see you again my little cousin. In the meantime God will provide the wisdom to take care of your precious girls. I love you.

I am so sorry I could not be there to support Lou and Yvonne and the extended Sacco family and friends. I remember how happy and proud Lou and Yvonne were when their healthy baby boy came into the world. The icing on the cake, I am old fashioned, was naming him Louis Sacco Jr. after his Grandpa and Dad, three generations of good, hard working, family men. One of my proudest moments was when they asked me to be the Godfather at Louis's christening.
Our families grew up doing everything together, and of course we had a ringside seat watching this active, happy young boy grow up. We would be at Atlantique Beach and I remember this little peanut jumping on his skim board and flying along on a quarter inch of water like no one else could. This was just the beginning of a remarkable athletic career. Any sport Louis tried, he excelled at, whether it be soccer or wrestling, anything! His dad was there to support his son and would never miss a wrestling match, regardless of where or when it was.
Louis had many other skills, some may not know what a talented woodworker he was. He would surprise his family with beautiful presents he would make in shop class. One of the finest was a beautiful jewelry box he made for his mom, he worked on that for weeks to make it perfect. 
Louis was an extremely hard worker. As he grew older, I would have him work with me with my underground sprinkler business, he always gave you a good hard day's work.
Louis was one of the kindest, most sensitive young men I have ever known. If anyone had a problem Louis would be there whether in person or on the phone, asking to help however he could. He didn't know how handsome he was, and if he did, he didn't act like it. He should have had a clue with all the girls that had a crush on him!
In closing, I wish I had one more time to tell him how much he was loved and how much I cared about him.

My Dear Louis,
How very lucky we were to have you in our lives. I remember when you were a young boy -- we lived in Percy Williams in East Islip and you would come over, chop wood for the fireplace, work in Grandpa's workshop and mow the lawn on the sit down mower. When we lived in Punta Gorda on the Harbor, you came to visit for the summer. Grandpa would put a light on by the dock and a chair so you could fish in the evening.  You would sit there for hours. Every time we went on the boat, you would uncover it and get it ready for us to have lunch or fish. Our friends loved you! They couldn't wait to see you on Saturday night when we all went to dinner at our club. You have no idea how happy you made us with your beautiful smile and just loving to hang out with your grandparents. We so cherish those memories. Our dear, beautiful grandson, we will love you forever and ever. God Bless you.

 I am so happy that I got to spend time with Louis recently.  I found him to be
