I can only say that in time the memories and stories that you will share will bring you happy thoughts of a great man who undertook the greatest job ever created. How can a life be measured?

Let me tell you how....
Life can be measured in a man named Peter Figoski New York City Police Officer for 22 years, he served the community he spent half his life protecting with over 200 felony arrests, helping to keep all of those whom he served safe and out of harms way. Each day he went to work put on that uniform knowing he worked in one of the highest crime ridden precinct's within the greatest city in the world. Always knowing he could never let his guard down. He could have asked to transfer out of Brooklyn north, but then who would follow in his footsteps? Like any other member of the service always wanting to go home at the end of his tour, safe and sound. 

It's measured in his 4 beautiful daughters, for whom now have to live without their Dad. 
It's measured in the hundreds of fellow officers within the department who had the honor of knowing this man, and by the thousands of officers throughout the country whom today carry a heavy heart of yet one more fallen officer.
It's measured in Police Officer Figoski, who could have retired after 20 years, but wanted to continue to serve and protect the hard working citizens of the 75 precinct.
It's measured in a man whom now joins his fellow angels in watching over all who serve and protect.

Life was measured in Police Officer Peter Figoski, 
May God hold you in the palm of his hand,
May he give your family the strength, love and support they need right now and in the days to follow...
and may he give you the wings you need to fly down and sit on your daughters shoulders.....

You made the ultimate sacrifice within a job, that not all people quite understand, Thank you my fellow brother for all your years of service....R.I.P.

I did not know this man ... this brave Police Officer... who lived to care for his family and worked to keep the streets safe for all of us, a man who wore his shield as proudly as he wore his heart. 
And although I did not know Officer Peter Figoski I wish to say that I am honored to have known he was there doing his job ... humbled that he did that job with true integrity, and tireless courage ...saddened by the loss of his life.  

My truest condolences go out to his family...his children - as loving and courageous as he was, his friends who stood by him as he protected their lives with his own, his fellow police officers who felt his trust, and to all of those kept safe by him - I was one of them and did not ever know him. 

Hero is not a word to use lightly, but this man - a father - a person that lived and worked to help us all -- is deservedly so entitled to be called by that title --- Hero. 

May his Lord bless him and his family who stood by him. May his spirit continue to protect us all. May he find peace knowing he did his best.

...Officer Peter J. Figoski... you leave behind so much, but you will always have my respect - as a person - as a father - as a police officer - as a man with no fear - as a Hero. 

Thank you, sir, thank you and may you rest in peace with the knowledge that you did what you had to do ...and did it with your heart...not just your shield.

I know it has been many many years but I do remember watching the boys a few times when you and my mom (Pat Bozza) would go out. I have been watching the coverage of this news here in Canada - breaks my heart.  May the family find comfort in knowing many prayers are being said all over the world. As the mother of an NYPD PO who was also assigned to the 7-5, I want to express my deepest sympathies to his daughtes & family. Every day we prayed for our son as he left for work & thanked God when he returned safely.  It is a job that only certain very special men and women can do - protect the City of NY. We came out of the same Academy class..I will always remember Peter as a very private, but friendly person. A cops cop! NYC truly is at a loss, so much expereince and such a a great cop..
