Audrey Bernice Sheffield

Audrey Bernice Sheffield 1920 - 2010 A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Riverlakes Community Church to celebrate the life of Audrey Bernice Sheffield. The service will be conducted by Rev. Milt Cole with a private inurnment at Shafter Cemetery. Audrey Bernice Sheffield was born August 26, 1920 in her home town of Walnut Bend, Texas, and went to be with her Lord on October 13, 2010. Known as Bernice to most of her family and friends, she moved to Shafter, CA in 1939, where she married Sam Sheffield, her then husband. They lived in Shafter for ten years, working in farming. In 1949, they moved to Taft, CA, with their two children, where Sam went to work for Richfield Oil. Bernice was a devoted mother and employee, working full as a bookkeeper/clerk for Taft Heights Pharmacy. She also enjoyed sewing, and was an active member of First Baptist Church. Bernice moved to Bakersfield in 1963, where she worked for El Tejon Drug as a cosmetologist, and was a member of Calvary Bible Church. Bernice is survived by her daughter, Nancy Bryant; her son, Mark Sheffield, and his wife Linda; her grandchildren, Steven Sheffield and his wife Laurel; Andrew Sheffield and his wife Stephanie; Jeffrey Bryant all of Bakersfield, CA, Greg Bryant and his wife Kriss of Fort Worth, TX; her siblings, Fay Walt and Evelyn Merriman both of Bakersfield, CA, and Harold Rikard of Hanford, CA; a dear cousin, Dena Smart of Westlake Village, CA; and many loving nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
