8/16/1934-11/4/2015
Chiquita Alba passed away on November 4, 2015 in Bakersfield. Chiquita was born on August 16, 1934 in Bakersfield to Frank and Georgia Borjon, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Wasco High School in 1952, and from Bakersfield College in 1954, with an Associates in Arts Degree. She married Edward Alba in 1958, and they had two daughters, Eydie (Alba) Gamblin and Kelly (Alba) Boston. Chiquita began her work career with Boydston Realty, then worked for PG&E for 36 years and retired in 2000. After she retired and as always, Chiquita devoted herself to being the best grandma she could to her grandchildren, Matthew, George and Jadyn and enjoyed trips to the beach whenever she could. Even though she was very quiet, she loved getting to know people. She was gracious, kind, and giving. She was humble and generous and showed her children by example how to live life to the fullest. She was also preceded in death by her brother Rocque Borjon and her sister Frankie Mendez. She is survived by daughters, Eydie and husband Tom and grandson Matthew and his fiance Tanya Richardson, and Kelly and husband George and grandchildren George and Jadyn, brother-in-law Navor Mendez and sister-in-law Earlene Borjon, and best friend Toni Wilson as well as much loved nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends.
The family is grateful to the loving care she received at Brookdale Riverlakes where she lived for 4 years. The family would also like to thank Hoffman Hospice for her care since August. Many of her care providers were a blessing to her and her family.
Chiquita’s love and kindness will live on through the lives she touched. Although she will be dearly missed, her family celebrates her return home, forever healed. Private services will be held.
