

Lawrence Roland Townsley, 82, of Timonium, Maryland, beloved husband of 58 years to Barbara May Townsley, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 2, 1943; loving son of the late Charles Roland Townsley and the late Ruth Naomi Townsley; dear brother of the late Shirley Ann Townsley and beloved father of the late Kristin Michelle Townsley.
He grew up in Woodberry, Maryland and attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute High School where he gained a love for drafting and electronics. At age 18 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a radio technician and was stationed in the Philippines. After four years of service, he began his studies at Towson State College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in December of 1971. He obtained an MBA from Loyola College in 1978 and graduated from the Maryland Banking School in September of 1983. He rose to the level of Vice President of Purchasing at First National Bank before retiring.
He was very charismatic and made friends easily and was always up for a good joke or prank, drinks at Frazier’s in Hampden, pinochle, and bull and oyster roasts with friends. He enjoyed his childhood, having a large extended family living nearby, and cherished the family he created with his wife, Barbara May, having been blessed with three loving daughters and six grandchildren whom he adored. He had many hobbies that included golf- even making a hole-in-one at Pine Ridge where he loved to golf weekly- woodworking, cooking, gardening, and writing poetry.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter Karen Jarrett and her husband Rodney, daughter Jennifer Uhlig and her husband Robert; grandchildren, Nathan, Jaidyn and Elana Jarrett; Madison, Gavin and Trevor Uhlig; sister-in-law June Plutschak and her husband Steve, brother-in-law Donald Lipko as well as many cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Burgee-Henss-Seitz Funeral Home, 3631 Falls Road Baltimore, Maryland on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Burgee-Henss-Seitz Funeral Home.
Interment at Lorraine Park Cemetery.
