Dear Bob and Evelyn,

I am so sorry to hear of Melanie's passing.  I only saw her at Harry and Barbara's rehearsal and wedding.  She was an adorable little girl and I can see from her picture she was truly a beautiful woman.

There's something about childhood friends that you just can't replace... 
I haven't seen Melanie in years, although I still feel a connection to her from childhood; based on countless afternoons playing dolls, dress-up  or riding bikes around Weldon Place.  I can still remember the sleepovers and the summer days "picnicking" on back porches or going to the playground...not to mention the youth group outings, dances, and Camp Manidoken. There are just too many memories to mention.
Melanie will always hold a special place in my heart. 


       If anyone has lived a life that pleased God, it is Melanie. A dedicated and loving mother, a devoted daughter, a pillar of her church and faith- all of these are wonderful examples of the gentle, kind and compassionate person she was. I know she is in Heaven now with her Jesus, the personal Savior that she believed in and served so deeply and sincerely.

I just read a Email exchange that I had with Melanie soon after I discovered I was pregnant with my daughter, Mairead. Miss Evelyn had run into my father, and he told her the news. Melanie contacted me and wrote “Hi Jen! I heard a rumor today that Ronan is going to be a big brother!” I couldn’t get through the rest of it without tears rolling down my face.
I have had many wonderful friends over the years, and I cherish them all. Melanie was my first friend. The memories are endless. Too many to list here, and it’s too soon. I am so sorry that I didn’t reach out more. It makes my heart ache. 
I don’t know what I believe in, but if there is such a thing as heaven I hope that Melanie is sitting with everyone she has ever loved and lost.  Hug them for me, sweetheart. I love you. - Jen

Melanie was a student in my 5th grade class when I was a first-year teacher. She worked hard in school, was very sweet, and was friendly with everyone. Melanie was so excited when she found out I was getting married and actually attended my wedding with her mom. I have the sweetest photo of her at my wedding wearing a pretty dress and her hair in a bun! I treasure that photo. Although we have not been in touch for many years, I have never forgotten Melanie and am so happy to hear she married and had a son. Melanie has been taken from us too soon, but our dear memories of her will live on.

My favorite memory was when Mel was pregnant with Ian and I said I'm going to be a great uncle! Melanie said, you have always been a great uncle! I was deeply touched and will always have that memory. Looking forward to that great reunion we will one day have, Uncle Don.

Typing with tears, I am so sorry to learn of Melanie's passing. I worked with Bob at the time of Melanie's birth, so I feel somewhat close to her. Bob and I still keep in touch.  

Bob and Evelyn, you are in my deepest of prayers. I can not imagine your heart break at this time. Melanie is now home with the Lord. You will all be together again someday.

My sweet friend. You've always been a beacon of light, a beautiful soul and an amazing person. From Vegas nights to family get togethers, I cherish every memory we have.  For we are truly blessed when friends become family. I love you, until we meet again.

My Dearest Melanie, your heart so big your love so  unconditional and an ear to always listen.  I have known you for a long time but our last 3 years when we worked together were some of the best.  You will forever be missed and you will never be forgotten.  May you continue to spread your love and faith as you shine down on us.  Much love my friend thanks for being one of mine

I will always remember Melanie’s beautiful smile and her sweet hugs! Even tho we didn’t see each other very often... when she did make it to Louisiana to visit... it was a special time! I met Melanie over 20 years through her Husband Chris, such a lovely woman  very kind and her warmth from her heart could fill a room,  Her son Ian was born not too long after my son,  it hard to find the words to say at times like this, but the family is in my heart and prayers
