Paul as a man struck me very much the same as that picture of the daring young boy balanced on the railing above: knowing his own mind, confident, striving. 

It was an honour to meet him through my friend, his younger brother Alex. 

May God rest his soul.

It’s w a heavy heart that I think, remember and often have tears as I think of him.
A beautiful person, a pure heart full of longings to see, hear and find new adventures.
Now, that Pili, his mom, and my sweet friend is gone too; I keep them both close to me always in my heart and mind.

he was the best boss i ever had. fair honest and full of laughter. there is no one that can compare . i am shocked and saddened to learn of this.we had not spoken in a long time and i wish i had been in touch with him recently . God bless paul and his family

I worked with Paul at Global Computer Supplies in 1994. He was a great mentor and friend; I will never forget the laughs and wisdom he gave me during happy hour. I enjoyed going to his place to listen to the best sounding stereo equipment. He will be missed but his memories will stay with me forever.

This comes as such a shock to so many of us. I worked with Paul from 1993 through 1997; had more than the occasional drink; went to see a Dave Brubeck concert with him; and never lost contact with him. It is so difficult to imagine anyone so full of life not being the usual email away. My great sympathies to all. I can only imagine his record collection in the next world!

Paul sat on the other side of the cube wall from me at Global. He had a great sense of humor which helped when a couple of us joked with him, especially after he had just gotten engaged. I considered Paul a friend and had a great deal of respect for him. He will be missed.

I worked with Paul at Global Computers/Systemax. Paul was always willing to help me learn more about the product so I could be a better salesperson. He always had my respect & appreciation.

I've heard many comments about Paul since we first met in college. Although I feel that I have lost a lifelong friend, it is heartening to see that he touched so many with his charm, wit, intellect, and all of the other characteristics that made him special.  I will miss him very much and cherish the memories of the time we spent together.  It is good to see that he had such a positive impact on the many  people that he loved and could not help but to love him.  I smile in my sadness when I think of you Paul.

Much grief, much loss. Thought of posting the poem I wrote about your death here, but decided it was about my Paul, and it seems you were many different Pauls. I'll save mine for myself. That was one of your gifts: you made every person in your life believe you had a special bond together. And it seems we all did. You will be so missed, my friend.

Paul, since the first day we met in law school, always admired your intelligence, sense of humor and individuality. Marcela (my wife) and I cherish many memories that only you could have inspired. We wish peace to those left behind. Friend, each of us misses you.

Paul came into my life three years ago and was a beautiful gift of love and life.  He was unique, loving, fun and oh yes challenging!  Paul was Paul and there will never be another.   May everyone take comfort in our wonderful memories.

Paul: Soy José Luis y con Susana escribiremos en español, no me saldría bien recordarte y rendirte nuestro pesar en otro lenguaje. Tu tío varón ( todos parece que somo barones /baronesas, tú incluído, pero eso no importa mucho). Si importa la sorpresiva y fulminante desaparición tuya de este mundo que amabas. El consuelo: la falta de sufrimientos, y no haber quedado en estado de vegetal. Tuvimos la ahora enorme suerte de haber ido a ver a Pili, y compartir contigo "el último almuerzo", y días y sobre todo unas ocho horas de una noche de espanto, cuando perdí a Susana en Sawgrass. Tu ayuda fue maravillosa, solidaria y eficaz. Ese episodio que jamás olvidaré por lo horrible y por tu compañia oportuna y sólida, me hizo quererte aún más, a mi sobrino mayor que tiene con Argentina más lazos, al igual o más que Marco (hijo de Giorgio y Maruchi), quien nació aquí. Paul, viviste y lo hiciste a tu modo, declaraste a Carolyn que fuiste muy feliz, ahora te fuiste sin despedidas. Nadie podrá criticarte por no haber intentado gozar la vida y ser feliz. Dear aunt Pili, I can only imagine the pain and sadness and emptiness you are feeling in this moment. I think losing a child at any age, is the worst thing a parent can experience. Paul was an extraordinary man because he has learned from you, because you managed to transmit the important values ??that have accompanied him throughout his life. The testimonies of affection and friendship that we are reading every day in his memory are the tangible sign that Paul has left us. A huge gift that we will keep in our heart forever. As Paul's brother in law I enjoyed his company whenever we met. It particularly surprised and impressed me that somoeone who I had never previously considered particularly child orientated, when mine & Carolyn's children came along, how much he took to them, enjoyed their company and loved them.  He always made the effort to come to Florida to see us and the children when we were in America. There is not much I can add other than i have been impressed by the thoughtful and articulate posts posted here so far. Bye for now Paul. David Prentice.

I usually have little difficulty being articulate, but his death and its impact is beyond words.

I have so much trouble making sense of it; just the night before we were watching a film as we did so often.  Now my beloved big brother and close friend is gone.  Paul had a decisive influence on the course of my life - more than anyone else he introduced me to philosophy(his undergrad major)which became my life long love. 

He was someone I trusted to give me sound advice on the practical aspects of life in which I am weak. He was also friend who I enjoyed watching and discussing films with, and having debates on almost any topic. I was glad that I was able to spend his last six years in the same building with him. It is very difficult to cope with the pain and shock. 

Death is one of those terrible mysteries.  I have to have trust that the world is ruled by a good God who has a fuller vision beyond what we can always see or understand.

I met Paul in 17 years ago at my first job out of college. We immediately connected and he became my Mentor and gave me unparalleled guidance. Our relationship quickly turned into a close friendship and we helped each other through the years especially in difficult times. I cannot explain the void I am feeling right now, it feels like I lost an older brother. Paul touched many people in his life. Thank you Barbara for thinking about me and having Anna get in touch with me. I will always keep Paul's guidance and great memories in my heart.

Mi Polito...I miss you my son. As I lay here remembering, I can still feel the first flutters of your precious life starting inside my body as if it were today. It was a miraculous privilege being your mother, filling me with joy, experiencing each new passage of your life. I celebrate your life, your joy for life, your love for life, and your love for all those who shared it with you. Your love of family and friends, and your laughter will always be with us. Optimism is your legacy to all of us. I can still feel your strong hugs around me. I celebrate each minute of your wonderful life my son, my love, my first-born. My heart is full of your memories and will be forever. 
That can NEVER die.

Paul came again after many years to Spain, his country of origin, by November 2009. We travelled to Segovia, talked about lot of things and eat “Cochinillo”. He was not used to see the form of an animal in the dish but liked the taste. Later on he posted his picture below the “Acueducto” in his Facebook. He came back by July 2010, this time with a full beard cut. In both trips did not want too much to see places or things, just talk, improve bonds and get relaxed in a family environment. He was upset by the fact that his subtle sense of humour when speaking English did not worked as well in Spanish, but insisted in talking the language of his mother.
Very intelligent, he had a powerful logical thinking. He was in love both with the women kind and his freedom. In his eyes there was always and inquiring, curious look. He came first to Spain in the 70s. He was a very strong young man in childhood, able to run 30 kilometres in a row and through a small ball one hundred meters away. Later he admired cycling.
He talked about studying physics sciences in the future and had plans on coming back to his roots in Spain on retirement. Especially he was impressed about his relatives and the beauty of Galicia, following all the stories told by our Grandmother Elvira.
I deeply regret his passing away so young while remember him and pray for the eternity of his soul.

This seems so surreal. The sadness, the sudden shock, the call with this horrendous news. A parent should never have to live to see the untimely death of a child. My heart is breaking for the family and friends of Paul. The warm memories will help to give us all the strength to carry on with our daily lives. After my marriage to Pili he made me feel so welcome and a member of his family. We spent many happy hours discussing love, life, and relationships over the years. You will be greatly missed. Rest in peace dear Paul.

Thank you all for your messages.....our hearts are broken. When I saw Paul two weeks ago, we spoke about his future plans and his happiness with his life. Ironically, he summed up his life best..."I've had a good life, good jobs, good friends, good women, what is there to regret?" He was content and happy with the way his life turned out.  He was a wonderful brother, always visited me no matter what, and loved his nieces and nephew. They brought out the child in him. He had a stong sense of family  The last day I saw him, he hugged me many times and told me he loved me.  We made plans to see each other in the near future. I just can't believe he's gone. I will keep him alive with my memories, and in the minds of my children.   Goodbye for now Paul........I love you...

I have met Paul a number of times that probably will not exceed the fingers of my hand.  When i was a child, when i was a teenager and he came to SPain, when i went to New York, and later as adults when i visited him in Baltimore and later when he came to Spain to visit the family and also to our wedding anniversary.  Despite of this we always were close, as Eva said Family is family and whenever i was with him it felt good.  He was so excited these last years discovering his family roots in Galicia and making plans to retire there.  We were planing to go togetehr to visit Jose Luis and Susana in Buenos Aires.  It is a shock and i still cannot believe it.  Paul i hope that wherever you are there will be Tortilla de patatas y pulpo a la gallega. My love to you.  Luis

I first met Paul when I was 13 and he was an Athletic 16 years old. I lived in Spain and I thought he was God coming from the USA.  Time made him a wisdom and a philosopher. We always lived in different countries, as all our family did, but blood is thick, and memory is resistant. My older cousin, I will miss you.

Paul was my first professional mentor but, more importantly, a GREAT friend.  I will miss his intellectual tenacity, his passion for good music and a good joke, and his genuine love of other people and their company.  My heart aches for all his friends and family.

So saddened to hear this news. Please accept my condolences for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
