

On February 12, 2026, Walter John, beloved husband married 60 years to college sweetheart Lynn Burgee Henss, suddenly passed away in his home. Walter was a devoted father of Laura Henss Denbow and her husband, Bob Mendola; Tracey Henss Carpenter and her husband, Mike; and Wendy Henss Elliott and her husband, Tom; a devoted grandfather of Carson Denbow; Brad Carpenter and his wife, Madeleine; Rachel Lynch and her husband, Kelton; Eric Denbow; Liam Elliott and his wife, Caroline; Morgan Elliott and her husband, Julio; and Riley Elliott; and a devoted great-grandfather of Maxine Carpenter. In addition to the aforementioned family, Walter is survived by his brother, Fred Henss. He was preceded in death by his sister, Hedwig Nash.
Walter was strong in his faith, loved volunteering, and having fun with his Hunts Church community. He enjoyed many, many fantastic trips during his life and was a proud patriarch of his family. He spent many years caring for funeral families in Hampden and was a trusted guide to so many during their grief. He loved his retirement, working in the yard, and watching his family grow.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgee-Henss-Seitz Funeral Home, 3631 Falls Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21211 on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm, with a Masonic Service beginning at 8pm by the Liberty Pickering Masonic Lodge.
Memorial service will be held at Hunts Memorial United Methodist Church,1912 Old Court Road, Towson, Maryland 21204 on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Hunts Memorial United Methodist Church, 1912 Old Court Road, Towson, Maryland 21204.
Walter's love, laughter and unconditional commitment to his family and friends will be deeply missed but forever remembered and cherished.
