It is with great sadness the family of Emel Lashuk announces his passing, fifteen days before his 94th birthday after a brief illness. He is survived by his loving wife Mary, of 65 years. Four children, Bev(Bryan), Shirley(Bud), David, Victor(Colleen) ; nine grandchildren,Scott(Tasha),Natasha(David), Jennifer(Bill), Patti(Rob),
Joel, Desmond, Dayne, Mark and Rebecca; five great grandchildren, Sara and Annabelle, Ainsley, Will and Nyah, Carter and Kai. He is also survived by his sister Martha Gertz. He was predeceased by his parents Filamon and Kulina, sisters Helen and Nellie and brothers William and Phillip. He leaves to mourn his loss many family members and friends.
Emel immigrated to Canada from Belazsow, Poland with his family in 1939 and settled in the Camp Creek/Roseholm area where he farmed until 1961, then moving to Barrhead to run a small business and work out. Emel and Mary’s life adventures took them to Bonneville and then to Edmonton where they have lived for the last 40 years. Emel’s great joys in life were family gatherings, puttering in his garage, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed.
The family would like the thank the staff at Unit 53 of the Royal Alexandra Hospital for their kind and compassionate care during his stay. In lieu of floral tributes, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Barrhead United Church (5102 - 60 St.) on Monday July 9, 2012 at 11:00 am with Father Igor Kisil officiating.
