Helen Winnifred Keir

The family of Helen Keir (nee Mayhew) of Barrhead are deeply saddened to announce her passing March 14, 2017 at 96 years of age. Helen was born and raised in Coronation, Alberta, the youngest of eight children. While studying nursing at Edmonton General, she met and married Bill Keir. After a short time in Calgary, they moved to Barrhead in 1945 where they raised their four children.

She is survived by her children: Suzanne (Howard) Janzen, Cathy (David) Boyd, Pamela (Rick) Benwick and Arthur (DeeDee Mast) Keir, seven grandchildren: Jay and Scott Janzen, David, James and Kevin Demeester and Jordan and Aura Benwick, and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. William Keir.

Special thanks to John and Hennie Mast, Ken and Marie Wold, Margaret Wimmer and Edie Proft for their friendly help. Thank-you also Dr Krantz and the staff at both Barrhead Hospital and Shepherds Care for their attentive care.

Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Friday March 17, 2017 from Barrhead United Church Barrhead Alberta.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Keir Care Centre or Charity of choice.
