Lambert (Lorne) Tuininga passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, at the Barrhead Healthcare Centre after several months of pain and declining health. He was born on April 8, 1936, in Neerlandia, Alberta to Klaas and Tryntje Tuininga, the third of seven children.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizebeth (Betty) Janssen, whom he missed dearly.
Lorne will be fondly remembered by his family: Dawn; Kimberly and Rudy; Holly, Kevin and Maeva; Autumn and Brandon; Chloe and Ayden and many other dear friends and extended family. Lorne always took the time to show genuine interest in their lives and cared deeply for each of them.
Lorne loved to laugh, play cards, and socialize, and he built many meaningful friendships throughout his life. He had a deep love for farming, working the land, and caring for animals, including his little dog, Buddy. He always tried to be a good steward of God’s creation.
The Lord was central to Lorne’s faith and daily life. He truly loved serving others in his church and community, quietly and faithfully.
A service of praise to God will be held at the Neerlandia Christian Reformed Church on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 1:00pm. The service will be live-streamed.
The family is grateful for the exemplary care given to Lorne by Dr. Wepener and all the Staff at Barrhead Healthcare Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barrhead Health Care Center Auxiliary (Barrhead Healthcare/ Lorne Tuininga).
