Marinus A. De Groot

July 19, 1927 - June 14, 2020

With sad hearts we announce the passing of Mike DeGroot, late of Barrhead, AB (formerly of Fort Assiniboine, AB) on June 14th, 2020 at the age of 92 years. He is survived by his loving family; 6 children: Tony (Donna) DeGroot of Rycroft, AB, Henry (Diana) DeGroot of Fort Assiniboine, Rita LaBerge of Fort Assiniboine, Diana (Tony) Lagace of Wizard Lake, AB. Michael (Carmen) DeGroot of Entwistle, AB, and Theresa (Paul) Richard of Quesnel, BC; 14 grandchildren; Rane, Tyler, Cara, Avery, Danielle, Lenny, Brandy, Cory, Chris, Kayla, Shannon, Brittany, Ryan and Wesley; 12 Great Grandchildren: Taylor, Trey, Levi, Jayne, Hannah, Wyatt, Chloe, Landon, Grayson, Maximus, Ruby and Weston; and 1 Great, great grandchild, Lily. He is predeceased by his wife, Gerda and son in law, Ron.

Mike will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his happy and teasing nature, those twinkly blue eyes, his love of gardening and his love for family and of life.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to the medical and nursing staff of the Barrhead Healthcare Centre, staff of Hillcrest Lodge and Barrhead Community Care staff for the great care and kindness provided to our father.

Due to the current restrictions due to the Covid 19 pandemic, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted in Mike’s name to the Barrhead Healthcare Centre or Fort Assiniboine Hillcrest Cemetery.
