

Albert Clifton “Butch” Sojourner III, 70, passed away suddenly at St. Francis Hospital on Park Avenue Monday, April 24, 2017. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee on November 28, 1946. A graduate of Tech High School in 1965, he served in the United States Navy in Vietnam for three consecutive tours. He then met the love of his life Terica Rhea in 1969 and was married to her for 45 years. Butch enjoyed being outdoors and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid hunter and a devoted husband and father. He retired from Memphis Light Gas and Water Division after 39 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Terica Sojourner of Memphis; two sons, Albert “Cliff” Sojourner IV of Charlotte, North Carolina and Michael Sojourner (Liz) of Tupelo, Mississippi; father, Albert Sojourner, Jr of Horseshoe Lake, Arkansas; two sisters, Barbara McGinnis (John) of Stockton, California and Evelyn “Tinker” Armstrong (Billy) of Nesbit, Mississippi; two uncles, Raines Sojourner of Bartlett, Tennessee and Gordon Sojourner of Horseshoe Lake, Arkansas and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Turman; stepfather, Richard Turman; stepmother, Mary Helen Sojourner and sister, Beverly Blaylock. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 28, 2017 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., Bartlett, TN with Rev.
