Anita Louise Simpson

Anita Louise Simpson, 84, passed away on September 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving children. Born on July 21, 1941, Anita spent her life nurturing her family and sharing her passions with those around her.

In 1959, she married David "Dave" Simpson, Sr., together they shared 64 years of love, family, and devotion until his passing in 2023. Anita was known for her vibrant spirit and nurturing presence. Their union blossomed into a beautiful family. Together, they raised three children, Lil Dave Simpson (Laura), Ricky Simpson (Debbie) and Lorri Hammer (Matt), each of whom will carry forward their mother's legacy of love, laughter and kindness. Countless hours were spent volunteering as a "Ditto Dollie" at their local elementary school, assisting office staff and teachers. Many of us think she missed her babies being at home.

Anita was particularly cherished and affectionately known as Nana by her 9 grandchildren - Donald (DJ) Simpson (Alicia), Michael Simpson (Jessica), Meghan McCarthy, Wil Simpson, Erica Croninger (Justin), Nathan Guy, Trisha Hammer, Emma Cockerham (Jason) and Kaje Simpson. Along with 13 beautiful great-grandchildren. Nana found her greatest joy, caring for her family through food, fellowship and Italian cuisine. We all know, "if you don't make a happy plate, then no "bessert" (dessert) for you."

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charleen Mamelli Haley (Dave) and James H. Hull (Margrette) and brother, James (Buddy) Hull. She is survived by her brothers, Dave Haley (Terry) and Michael Haley, her sisters Cindy Hull Owens (Dale) and Joy Surles (Elvis), a large extended family, friends and staff from Storypoint Assisted Living Community who will forever cherish her memory.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 19th at 10:00 a.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, Bartlett, Tennessee with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memphis Funeral Home.
