

His parents were the late Rev. Lowell B. and Ida P. Council. Tony graduated from Peabody High School in Trenton, TN in 1962. He attended Lambuth University in Jackson, TN from 1962-1964. Then he went to the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO from 1964-1967 where he graduated with a degree in Journalism.
Tony served in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971.He had stateside assignments in San Angelo, TX and Indianapolis, IN and overseas duty in Labrador, Newfoundland and Okinawa, Japan. He was honorably discharged in March 1971.
Tony was employed by the news department at WREC-TV in Memphis, TN from 1971 to 1975. Then he toured Europe for 6 months from April to September 1975.
In 1980 he moved from Memphis to Bellingham, WA. He married Sandra K. “Sandy” Berousek, daughter of the late Joe and Sabre Berousek of Oklahoma City, OK on August 15, 1982. Sandy and Tony moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1995. Sandy died of Leukemia in March 2000.
Tony loved fishing, traveling, and sports. He leaves many friends and family to cherish special memories.
Tony is survived by 2 brothers, Dr. Benjamin Parker (Sandra) Council of Laurel, MS and F.W."Dallas"(Ann Wells) Council of Clifton, TN, his sister-in-law JoAnn (Paul) Muzny of Piedmont, OK and nephews Joshua Council, Benjamin (Michelle) Council, Matthew (Lauren) Council, and Aaron (Shelley) Muzny, plus companion Muzette Mathis Cooper, numerous relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 2404 Kirby Rd in Memphis, TN on Tuesday, January 24. Visitation is at 2PM followed by the service at 3PM.
Tony will be interred alongside his wife, Sandy, with a graveside service at Czech Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK.
In lieu of flowers, Tony requested donations be made to cancer research, organizations dealing with liver diseases, or the charity of choice.
