

Audrey “Jean” (Johnson) Oliver, daughter of Aubrey and Maude (Jones) Johnson, was born on April 24, 1927 in Clarke County, Murray, Iowa and passed away on September 12, 2014 in Collierville, Tennessee after a brief illness. Jean graduated from Murray High School in 1946 and later graduated from A.I.B Business School in Des Moines, Iowa. For a number of years she was employed by Attorney, Ward Reynoldson in Osceola and later worked as a Social worker for the State of Iowa at Clarke County Department of Social Services. In April of 1951, Jean married Max L. Oliver in Murray, Iowa. They were married for 63 years, living most of their married life in Osceola. She and Max owned Oliver Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge, and Ford/Mercury dealership for many years before retiring. Jean had many hobbies and whatever she decided to pursue she would excel at. One such hobby was showing American Saddle bred horses. She was well known for her horsemanship, winning many National, Regional, State and local titles in both Five-gated and Fine Harness classes. Jean enjoyed being outside, and working around their farm. She loved animals and had a special gift for nurturing them back to health. She was an avid gardener and loved sharing her garden produce with her neighbors and friends. She also enjoyed cooking and could be found baking and making pies to share with friends. Jean is survived by her husband Max Oliver; daughter, Janet (Mike) Adair of Memphis, TN., granddaughters, Rachel of Memphis and Stephanie of St. Petersburg, FL.; a brother, Paul Johnson (Joan) of Murray, Iowa, and a sister Janice (Fay) Schlotfeldt of Memphis, TN., along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, September 17 from 10-11am with the funeral starting at 11am at First Assembly Memphis, 8650 Walnut Grove, Cordova, TN. 38018. The burial will follow at a later date in Osceola, Iowa.
