Barbara Ann Colby, 83, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 12th, 2021 at her home. She was born in Monroe, Louisiana to Bernice Sellars and Willie David Beebe on November 15th, 1938. She moved to Memphis at the age of 5 where she stayed the rest of her life. In Memphis she built her family with her former spouse, David Colby, and raised their three children. She proudly worked at the District Attorney General’s Office as the Secretary for 30 years. She loved to travel and took numerous trips with her friends and family throughout the years. She also loved telling stories about her travels and documenting special memories with her family. An avid fan of the University of Memphis Tigers, she sported Tiger Blue wherever she went. She enjoyed cooking for her family and her favorite dish was her eggplant parmesan. She loved spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and made sure that holidays and birthdays were always extra special. She will be remembered for her kind heart, determined spirit, outgoing personality, and love of people. She also had a silly sense of humor, always making those around her laugh while she giggled along with them. She is welcomed in heaven by her mother Bernice Sellars, her son David G. Colby, and her sister Linda Callaway. She is survived by her daughters Sheryl Taylor and Sandra Hurley, seven grandchildren: Dustin, Kourtney, Victoria, Nicholas, Alaina, Joshua, and Dawson, as well as four great-grandchildren: Bryton, Holden, Jackson, and Asher. In addition to flowers, a memorial donation can be made to St. Jude in honor of Barbara Colby.
