

Billy Wayne Miller, passed away on November 30, 2016, at the age of 84. Mr. Miller, the son of Robert and Zula (Bedwell) Miller, grew up in Jackson, TN. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1950 and Memphis State University in 1958. Mr. Miller was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the US Air Force from 1951-1955. Mr. Miller was employed as the first full time studio cameraman at WREC TV Channel 3. Later he served Channel 3 as business manager and then as vice president and chief financial officer of the broadcast group of the New York Times Company. After 33 years he retired from WREG TV and Mr. Miller served as business manager of the Bodine School in Germantown, TN. Mr. Miller was very active in the community during his broadcasting years and served as president of various accounting and broadcasting organizations. He also served as Potentate of Al Chymia Shrine Temple. Mr. Miller was a longtime member of Bellevue Baptist Church and a resident of The Village at Germantown. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Barbara Jean (Morgan) Miller and a brother James Miller of Jackson, TN. He is survived by his three children Dianna Miller Waring (Steve Waring), Michael W. Miller (DeeDee Walker Miller) ,and Susan Kristi Miller Lambert, all of Germantown, TN. He also leaves seven grandchildren; Jeffrey, Lindsey, Michael, Brandon, Kellsey, Justin, Jacob, and three great grandchildren; Wyatt, Karlin, and Tegan. Mr. Miller is also survived by a sister, Wilda Miller Jamerson of California. Visitation will be at 1pm, on Sunday, December 4, 2016, with a service to follow at 2pm, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., Bartlett, TN 38133. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
