Carolyn Jones Hodges passed peacefully on to her Lord on October 29, 2013, after a courageous 8 year battle with lung cancer; she left behind an example for us and others of determination, strength and unwavering faith. She never questioned God’s intentions or timing, or complained about her suffering; we take great comfort in the fact that she is in the arms of her Savior, with family and friends by her side. Carolyn was born to the late Reverend Warren Jones and Mae Palmer Jones in Dyer County, Tennessee, and sister to the late Gloria Joyce Jones and Dr. James Robert Jones. She is survived by her sister, Shelia Fitzhugh, of Paris, Tennessee. Carolyn graduated from Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy in Seymour, Tennessee, and was bookkeeper and co-owner of Shelby Sheet Metal Company. Carolyn will forever be remembered by her husband of 52 years, Hugh Hodges, her loving sons, Mark Hodges (Pam) and Keith Hodges (April), and her four beloved grandchildren Lauren, Madison, Evan and Reid, along with countless family and friends, whose relationships she deeply cherished. The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013 and a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 3, 2013 both at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N. Germantown Road. The family wishes to thank Dr. Tauer and the extraordinary people at West Clinic for the treatment they provided Carolyn; she could not have fought the battle without them. Also, the family would like to express their gratitude for the care that Carolyn received at Baptist Trinity Hospice House. The compassionate support and comfort they provided in her final days was exceptional in every way. The family requests that Memorials (in lieu of flowers) be sent to Brookside Baptist Church, 4993 Hwy 302E, Olive Branch, MS 38654.
