Cathey Miller Isom, Jr.

Cathey Miller Isom, Jr., 82, of Bartlett, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016. He was born in Memphis on October 28, 1933 to the late Cathey M. and Hazel A. Isom. Mr. Isom graduated from Treadwell High School and went on to Memphis State University and then served in the U.S. Army for four years. He worked for South Central Bell for 35 years and was a member of Whitten Heights Church of God and later, Bellevue Baptist Church. Mr. Isom, husband of An’l M. Isom for 63 years, also leaves his three children, Carol I. (Danny C.) Thomas, Leigh Isom and Chris M. (Lynn B.) Isom, all of Memphis; grandchildren, Amanda T. (Joe) Turner of Dallas, TX, Allen P. (Jenny) Thomas, Alex R. (Maria) Thomas, Amber L. Thomas, Courtney L. Isom, Jessie Y. Isom and Claire A. Isom, all of Memphis; and great grandchildren, Luke and Colin Turner of Dallas, TX and Logan and Gavin Thomas, both of Memphis. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 2 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Family and friends will gather beginning at 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
