Charles L. Austein, September 16, 1931 – November 28, 2010, was the middle child of eleven brothers and one sister, to parents Roy and Lillian. After graduating from Humes High School, Charles served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. While stationed in Denver, CO, he met his eternal love, Carole, and they were married on November 1, 1952. Charles attended Memphis State University and respectably worked in automobile management and was a successful business owner until retirement. His professional achievements were a means of supporting his lifelong passion for committing deliberate acts of kindness and generosity. He is preceded in death by his parents and six siblings. He is survived by his adoring wife of 58 years, Carole; three children, Chuck, Caren and Kim; three grandchildren, Caroline, Cameron and Evan; and one great grandchild, Greyson. We will miss his fun-loving spirit but know that he now sits at Jesus’ feet with a host of friends and loved ones. The family will receive friends this evening, Tuesday, November 30 from 5-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, December 1 at the funeral home with interment to follow at West Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery. The family requests any memorial gifts be made to Brunswick Baptist Church Building Fund or to Love Worth Finding Ministries. Online condolences may be made at www.memphisfuneralhome.net
