

Charles David Coscia, born February 19, 1939, in Memphis, TN, died October 1, 2012 in Cordova, TN. Charles graduated from Humes High School in 1957 and earned a degree in Chemistry from Memphis State University. He took graduate studies at the University of Kentucky in Lexington and was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served 2 years at Fort George G. Meade in Laurel, MD. After working as a chemist for Chapman Chemical Company, Velsicol Chemical Company, and Plough, Inc., he switched to an accounting career at Frazee, Thomas, and Tate and then at Specialty Feeds, Inc. for 33 years. He was a lifelong member of First Assembly of God church, singing in the choir, serving on the deacon board, teaching Sunday School, and leading a Royal Rangers boys group. One of his greatest passions was serving First Assembly Christian School as the board chairman for 40 years. Charles and his wife celebrated their 50th Anniversary this past June. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jesse Coscia, and one sister, Virginia Coscia McDaniel. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Fanning Coscia; and 2 daughters, Cheryl Lynn Coscia of Cordova, Cristen Coscia Hall and husband, Jason; 3 grandchildren, Zoe, Caden, and Colby Hall of Oakland, TN; a brother, Frank (JoAnne) Coscia of Bartlett, TN; 3 sisters, Joanna (Joseph) Coscia of Southaven, MS, Phoebe (Richard) Drach of Newark, DE, and Estelle (Jim) Fanning of Cordova, TN; a brother-in-law, Carter McDaniel of Springfield, MO, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, JoBeth and Guy Ray of Atlanta, GA, many beloved nieces and nephews, and a “host of Crusaders”. Memorials may be sent to FACS at 8650 Walnut Grove Rd. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 4 from 5-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Germantown Road. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Friday, October 5 at First Assembly of God Church on Walnut Grove Road with burial following in Memorial Gardens.
