Charles Derrick Poor (Charlie Poor) was born in Memphis, Tennessee August 7, 1935. He served in the Air Force Reserves prior to attending and graduating from Belmont College in Nashville. He later earned a Master’s degree from Rutgers University. He spent his career after college in Memphis. He worked for the Memphis Chambe of Commerce, then spent most of his career in banking and finance with First Tennessee Bank in Memphis. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church.
When he retired in 1999, he moved to Canton, Georgia with his wife, Sharon Haste Poor and was a member of First Baptist Church Atlanta. He enjoyed golf as his pastime during retirement and cherished his time with family and church friends. He is pictured on his 90th birthday milestone in August 2025.
Charles was preceded by his late wife, Sharon, on August 8th, 2024. He is survived by his family living in Georgia: Two loving daughters, Loire Poor Gruhn and Aimee Laine Poor, Lula Ann Poor and Richard Gruhn.
