Chlora Dale Sykes White

Chlora Dale Sykes White, was born 4/16/21 in Lafayette County, MS, was delivered at age 94 into the hands of her Savior on May 20, 2015. She attended Yocona County High School. She married at age 17 and as an Army wife, moved where ever her husband was stationed. She settled in Memphis, TN in 1953. Over the years, she attended different Catholic Churches, St. Michael’s, St. Francis of Assisi, and St. Ann Highland. Her ministries included Altar Society, RCIA, Eucharist Minister, and member of the Home and School Association. When her health declined, she moved to her daughter’s house in Selmer TN and became a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

She worked 15 years for the Wage Earner Trustee’s Office until she retired. She enjoyed league bowling; adventure seeking, spending time on the beach, flower gardening and playing cards. Forever, she will be remembered for her love of God and family. She was selfless, always placing them before her needs and wants. She was kind, sweet and very witty.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Clarence E. White, Jr.; her parents, Hugh Curtis Sykes and Maggie Mae James Sykes; Siblings, John Buren Sykes, Clara Mae Sykes White, Maudie Lee Sykes O’Kelly; and son in-law, Matthew Wade Hunting.

She is survived by her children: Sharon White (David) Ziegler, Joseph David (Jacqueline) White, Carla Leigh White Hunting and Sheila White (David) Hunt; Grandchildren, Michael David (Stella) Ziegler, Allison Rene Ziegler, Alan David (Melanie) Hunting, Erin Nawaf (Matthew) Konz, Gregory Wade Booton, Sheryl Hunt (Patrick) Bruce, Amy White (Kurt) Meurer, Kimberlee Booton (Joey) Roberts, Nadia Lea Nawaf, Brian Curtis (Amanda) Hunt, Cayce Ben (Kelsey) Nawaf, and Jenna Leigh Hunting; Great Grandchildren, Samantha Hunting, Jayden Hunting, Luke Hunting, Payton Hunt, Jacob Hunting, Chase Roberts, Michael Konz, Jocelyn Hunting, Madison Hunt and Grayson Roberts.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 10-11am with the Funeral Mass starting at 11am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 8151 Chimneyrock Boulevard, Cordova, TN. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, Montana, 59004, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN.
