David Carl Benstein, 55, of Cordova, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2010. He was an Import Compliance Officer with the Food and Drug Administration and received the honor of “Import Officer of the Year” in 2002 and 2007. David was an active member of Carnival Memphis, a current member of the Grand Krewe of Ptah and past king and chairman of the Grand Krewe of Sphinx. As a young man, David achieved the ranking of Eagle Scout. Mr. Benstein, the husband of Barbara DuBray-Benstein, also leaves his parents, Ralph and Dolores Benstein of Ocala, FL and brother, Mark Benstein, sister-in-law, Mary Beth and a neice, Deanna, all of Dundee, IL. The family will receive friends this evening, Thursday, November 11, from 5-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Funeral services and interment will also be at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens (formerly Memory Hill Gardens) at 10 a.m., Friday morning, November 12.
