David J. Hurlbut, son of Richard L. and Francis M. (Swanson) Hurlbut, was born on October 2, 1945, in Watertown, South Dakota. After graduating from high school, he attended South Dakota State University in Brookings before earning a business degree from the University of Minnesota.
On July 20, 1968, he married Patricia Lorraine Beynon, and the couple settled in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. In 1977, following the birth of their first son, the family relocated to Germantown, Tennessee. There, David built a distinguished career in warehouse and distribution management, serving with 3M, Honeywell, and Cargill across the Southeast.
An avid outdoorsman, David cherished time spent grilling, golfing, hunting, and fishing. He was a devoted coach for his sons’ Little League teams and shared a special bond with his yellow Labs—Brandy, Casey, and Bailey. Above all, he will be remembered as a deeply loving husband and father.
David is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patti; sons Justin David Hurlbut (49) and Ryan Eliot Hurlbut (47); grandchildren Jack, Sarah, David, Christopher, and Rylen; and brother Alan Hurlbut and his wife Linda (Stone) of Watertown, South Dakota.
