

Raised in Findlay, Illinois, David was known from an early age for his kind heart. He served four years of active duty in the United States Air Force following high school, followed by three years in the Air National Guard for the 183rd Fighter Wing in Springfield, IL. He was also a member of the Clarence Bixler American Legion Post 409 in Findlay, Illinois. After his service, he studied at Eastern Illinois University and the University of Illinois and obtained his aeronautical engineering degree. He also met the love of his life, Kara, at Eastern. The two married on June 3, 1995, beginning a life of love and adventure.
David’s career took him many places, with roles at GE in Chicago, Delta in Atlanta, and ultimately FedEx in Memphis, where he settled with his family. He approached his work with integrity and dedication. He enjoyed his work and spending time with his family. He loved eating out and particularly liked pizza, barbeque, and cookies. Also, he enjoyed going on vacations with his family and had a special place in his heart for Disney World. David was a devoted Christian.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kara, and their two sons, Justin and Tyler; his mother, Phyllis; his sister, Ann Good (special friend Dale Johnson); his brother, Mark (Bette); his brother-in-laws, Ryan (Jackie) Flick and Paul Flick; his nephew, Ian Flick; and nieces, Kayla and Courtney. He leaves behind a large extended family of cousins and dear friends, all of whom will miss his kindness, warmth, and uplifting spirit.
David was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Lee; his grandparents, Frank and Alta Lee, and Leroy and Lelia Mears; and his brother-in-laws, Larry Good and Gary Flick.
David's legacy lives on in the family he built, the friendships he nurtured, and the many lives he touched.
A visitation will be held on at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A memorial service will be held at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL at a future date.
