He was born in Paducah, Kentucky to William and Elizabeth Stallings on October 23, 1958.
David worked for AutoZone for 32 ½ years, working in Set Up, as a D. C. Manager, Maintenance Department. He closed out his career in the IT department. After retiring he worked as an IT Consultant for AutoZone.
Always having a positive attitude, David treated everyone with kindness and respect. He had an impeccable work ethic being inducted into the Starters Club at AutoZone was the highlight of his career. He was an avid golfer and a University of Tennessee Volunteers fan,he enjoyed going to Brit Floyd concerts with his daughter Brittney and watching Memphis Tigers Basketball. He enjoyed good music, watching shows on Alaska, Building off the Grid.
An honest, loyal, dedicated husband, father and friend, he will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 29 years, Cheryl Stallings; children, Brittney Stallings Hammond (Anthony), Candice Fann (Ronnie), Marcus Lavendar; grandchildren, Anthony David Hammond, Charlie Royce Hammond, Elijah Pierce Hammond, William Cole Fann, Logen Payne Fann, Kaleb Lyle Fann , Zoey Leigh Lavendar and his mother, Elizabeth Stallings.
He was preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” Stallings and his brother, Keith Stallings.
David was a loving and generous man to his wife, children and grandchildren and spared no expense when it came to his family and gave of himself in every way. His philosophy in life was “It is what it is.” He took whatever came his way and made something positive from it. He didn’t complain about things. If he didn’t like something, he changed it. He was a problem solver. He was very patriotic and had an extreme admiration of our service men and women and was a longtime supporter of Tunnels to Towers and the Wounded Warrior Project.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 7 from 1 pm until 2 pm at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Bartlett, Tennessee 38133. A funeral service will follow at 2 pm with burial in Memorial Gardens.
