Dawn Delight Moore was born in Curve, Tennessee to Homer Sellers and Lucille Wisdom. Dawn was born March 8th, 1940. She told stories of her expert abilities in chopping cotton as a teenager but did not want that as a career. She carried her suitcase to her high school graduation from Ripley High School and headed for the big town of Memphis, TN.
Dawn worked for 37 years at John Hancock Life Insurance Company and was an incredibly involved member of Memphis Calvary Church of the Nazarene where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school classes and served in multiple capacities for over 40 years. Dawn’s kids have often said “if the church doors were open, we were there – no matter rain, sleet, hail or storm”! Dawn is survived by her son, David Moore of Olive Branch, MS. and her daughter Dana Kania and son in law, Stan Kania of Nashville, TN. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Collin Moore and Sydney Moore of Hernando, MS., Abigale Tankersly of Birmingham, AL. and Casey (Dawn) Kania of Nashville, TN. She also leaves two great grandchildren - Autumn McEwen and soon to be born, Davis Tankersly.
Dawn could never get enough of learning about Jesus. She spent hours daily reading the bible and praying. She believed in the power of prayer and was known as a prayer warrior and she touched the realms of heaven often during prayer time. Her complete life was in the pursuit of Jesus and Dawn’s best friend was truly Jesus Christ. Often, Dawn was not quiet with her prayers as she called down Heaven. In fact, there was no doubt that everyone in the room knew the exact request Dawn was making to God. They heard her loud and clear and Dawn made sure God heard as well! There was never an issue to small to bring to God and she gave him thanks for everything in her life.
Dawn’s legacy has always been clear since her conversion October 17th,1965, that her life and her love was reserved for her savior, Jesus Christ. Mom celebrated two birthdays every year: her true birthday and her spiritual birthday.
