Dear Rose Mary & Family, One of my biggest regrets is that we as family members lost connection over the years, but I am so glad we reconnected and were able to enjoy many a good laugh, dinner & time  together.  If there was anything Don liked to do it was to be with his family, especially his grandkids, have a great time, a good laugh, his "special coffee", go on a great trip, have a good laugh,play golf, be with friends and family, study his Bible, have a good laugh, play golf and enjoy his friends and family. I don't think Don ever met a stranger and I know his friends and family meant the world to him. We lost a precious soul when Don left this earthly home, but without doubt he is in heaven no longer in pain and keeping the angels and everyone who is around in stitches...

Don was such fun everytime we got to hang out. His laugh was contagious and it was an honor to have him as my adopted Uncle. Rachel and I have been and will continue to keep you and your family in our prayers. We love you Rose and look forward to a pizza and movie night.

Dear Rose Mary and Family,
After a friendship of over 55 years, we have many wonderful memories of Don and the times we've all spent together.  You both have always been there for us when we walked through life's valleys as well as when we were on the mountaintops.  We share a friendship that few people have the privilege to experience.  Serving as our "caterers" at Derek's and Rachel's Memphis Wedding Reception is a prime example of the many ways you and Don have shown God's love towards us.  Don's perky personality, winning smile, unselfish, caring and humble attitude set him apart in a crowd.  Please know that our hearts are broken, not only for ourselves, but for you, as well.  None of us were ready to let Don go, but we know he is no longer suffering because God has healed him.  Life is just a journey; eternity with our Lord and Savior is every Christian's destination.  Don, you fought a good fight, you kept the faith, you kept your eyes on Jesus and on April 8, 2013, you won the race.  We'll always be "Best Friends Forever"!

The Lord truly blessed us when you and Rose Mary moved next door. From the beginning you and Rose Mary were there whenever we needed anything. I will never forget the evenings,eventhough they dwindled once the kids got older, we went to dinner together or sat out by the pool and enjoyed conversation and laughter! You always had that gorgeous smile on your face and that's what we will remember the most! It still seems surreal but you fought until the very end. Rose Mary misses you tremendously but hopefully she will find comfort in the fact she will see you again one day! We love you and miss you but just know that we are here for Rose Mary whenever she needs us.

It was our pleasure to be able to spend time with You and Don on so many special occasions. Don was a great guy and you could feel that he was always in the mood for fun! His smile and laugh will live in all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We share with you on your loss and pray that God comfort your family as you learn to live on. What a special person you were.  You were my dad's best friend and it has been hard to see so many people who loved you so much struggle with losing you.  You always had a kind word and a smile on your face.  There were many times you reminded me of my Pa (Claude Grey Corley).  To say you are missed is an understatement.  Thanks for showing us all what it is to fight with all you have.

When someone close to us is taken from us suddenly,the pain sometimes seems more that we can bear.  And yet, with time, our memories grow more precious, and we come to realize that those we've loved live on within our hearts. I count it a honor to be associated with Don. He was a true professional and gentlemen. He helped me with a personal matter possibly 25 years ago and did it without hesitation. A fine man.

I worked for Don when he was the Lt. in charge of Crime Analysis and he was by far the best Lt. I ever worked for in my years on the MPD. Don always had a smile and made coming to work enjoyable. Don was just a very nice guy.

Don was a great partner to those that rode with and worked with him.  He was  a great class mater in the Academy.  He will be missed by all who knew him.  God's Blessiings on His family.  Rest in Peace    Kenneth B. Eidson..

Don was one of the best Lieutenants I ever worked for at the Memphis Police Department. His great smile and good attitude will always be remembered. My heart was broken for you, Rose Mary, the day he went home to be with the Lord. I hope you understand I wanted to be there for you but I had to be at the hospital. I pray you will be able to go forward and live your life as Don would want you to. Don was a good husband and talked of you often. I thought I knew you even before we met.    Don Patterson and I graduated from the Memphis Police Academy in the same class. We only saw one another occasionally during our police career days after that, but he always had a smile, a handshake, and we had a little
chat to update one another on our respective departmental adventures.
   I will always remember Don with respect and appreciation for his 
personality and unflappable demeanor. I looked forward to those periodic

Papaw, you are my hero. Since day one you were always there for me. You helped me with so many life problems, and you knew exactly what to say. You were my "go to guy" for advice and you were always willing to help me. Everyone who knew you loved you, and if they didn't meet you,well then they were sure missing out! You loved us more than anything in this world.You were always smiling and laughing and joking around. You always had a funny face or funny memory to bring up. You always had our family laughing. But no matter what I will always remember our times together, the swimming,that St. Louis trip, the goofing around all the time, I'm going to miss you more than anything in this world. You're not just a phone call away anymore, you're a pray away, and that is the possible best thing you can be.
