Doris Lurline Clark Carlisle was born to James Lester and Agnes Farmer Clark on July 1, 1920. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Doris grew up in Earle, Arkansas. She graduated from Batesville High School in Batesville, Arkansas and then worked her way through business school in Osceola, Arkansas. After moving to Washington D.C. she worked for the U.S. Treasury Dept. Later Doris was transferred to Chicago and then returned to Memphis where she began working for Leader Federal Bank. She met Clifford Carlisle at Bellevue Baptist Church where they were both members. They married in February of 1950. Mrs. Carlisle was very active in the Sodalitan Sunday School Class, Training Union, and GA’s. She served and helped others in so many ways. Doris had a special talent of being able to make others feel good and comforted. She had a lovely spirit and was a lady of high morals and an example to her family. Doris treasured each and every one of her friendships. She made home a happy place. She will be with us in our memories and in our hearts as long as we will live. The world is a better place because Doris lived. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 grandchildren, her brother and sister. She is survived by her daughter, Donna; son-in-law, Dan; and granddaughter, Megan. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. The family would like to thank Kathy Hurst, Rene Myers, Linda Johnson, and Lou Gilmore for the precious care they provided to Mom. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to Bellevue Baptist Church Missions.
