September 24, 1942 ~ September 15, 2018
Our blessed mother was born on September 24, 1942 to Flois Burroughs and Murine Kissell. She was married to our father, Wayne Lamar Davis in 1957 until he passed on September 6, 1991. They had six children, Laverne Wright of Florida, Shelia Halsted of Tennessee, Wayne Jr, Stephanie Duncan of Tennessee, John Davis of Tennessee, Denise Burns of Scotland.
Lou accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and was baptized. She was loving, devote wife, mother, Mamaw, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was loved by all that knew her. She loved to travel, shop, and be with family. She loved shrimp and black walnut ice cream. She lit up a room when she was there and her eyes lit up with every visitor.
Her last request was to live in her home with her daughter, Stephanie, who cared for her, till her passing. God blessed our mother with her last request when he accepted her into his arms on September 15, 2018 at 8:26am.
She is preceded in death by her father, Flois Burroughs, her mother, Murine Burroughs, husband Wayne Davis, son Wayne Jr. Davis, and Brother Ellis Burroughs.
She leaves behind and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Laverne Wright and son in law Lewis Wright, daughter, Shelia Halsted and son in law David Halsted, daughter, Stephanie Duncan, Son, John Wayne Davis and wife Liz Davis, daughter, Denise Burns and son in law Robin Burns; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Atkins, Sue Evans, Karen Martin; brother, Kenneth Burroughs; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mom we will celebrate your life until we meet again.
Family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Thursday, September 20th at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. Services will follow at 2:00pm.
