Edwin Orr, 89, of Bartlett, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2013. He was born January 31, 1924 in Rachel, West Virginia to the late Dr. Waitman Wiley and Amanda Price Orr. He was very active with the Chickasaw Council of the Boy Scouts of America, where he was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, was a WW II army veteran and was retired from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center as a mechanical engineer. Mr. Orr, the widower of Hattie B. Orr, is survived by a son, William E. “Bill” Orr of Arlington, TN; a daughter, Susan Hensley of Newport News, VA; and a sister, Jacqueline Lindbeck of Bowie, MD. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond, Harris and Homer Orr. The family will receive friends Monday evening, May 13 from 5-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 14 at the funeral home with interment to follow in Memorial Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made to either the Boy Scouts of America or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
