Everett Dewey Henson, Sr., 89, of Memphis, passed away on Thursday, July 07, 2016. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Johnnie Lee Henson and three brothers, Floyd Henson, Coy Dean Henson and Howard Henson. Mr. Henson is survived by his three children, Everett “Ed” Henson, Jr. and his wife Gennette, Cynthia Henson and Julie Henson, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, sister, Freeda Barnes and two brothers, Robert Henson and A.J. Henson. Mr. Henson served proudly in the U.S. Navy and is a WWII veteran. He retired from International Harvester as an accomplished welder. Often times he used his trade to benefit the community in the most philanthropic way possible. Mr. Henson was even a dedicated care taker of the Vietnam Memorial in Frayser. He was noted for being part of the CCC’s or Civilian Conservation Corp. The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, July 11th from 12-2pm with the funeral at 2pm at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
