He was born to the late Bernie and Faye Langston on October 2, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Rice; and brothers, Randall “Rannie” Langston and brother in law Thomas “Bo” Bryan.
Ray attended Bolton High School and graduated in 1960. After high school, he served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. When his service ended, he became a general contractor with his father, Bernie and brothers, Rannie and Keith Langston. He retired as the Assistant Manager from Shelby County Roads and Bridges. Ray was always a cowboy at heart. He and Joe Elliot were head and heel ropers for many years on the rodeo circuit. His number one horse Casper trailered many mile with him.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Jamae B. Langston; his brother Keith Langston (Anita); four nephews; and three nieces.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Crossings Church, 5069 Brunswick Rd, Arlington, TN 38002 or to the Wounded Warrior Project in Ray’s honor.
A graveside service will be at 2:00pm on Tuesday, February 27 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 4761 Brunswick Rd, Arlington, TN 38002.
