

Gary W. Blackwood, 71, of Tuscaloosa, Al, loving husband of 41 years to Mary and devoted father to Ashley Gattozzi (Joe), passed away on August 19, 2017. He was born on March 7, 1946 in Stanford, Arkansas. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Norene Blackwood. He also leaves three grandchildren, Chris Gattozzi (Sassy), Holly Gattozzi, and Lilly Kaitlyn Gattozzi of Tuscaloosa, AL. He also leaves three great grandchildren, Owen, Anderson and Charlotte Gattozzi also of Tuscaloosa, AL. Gary also leaves a sister, Glenda Asher (Gary) and two nephews, Steve (Trudi) and Dan (Tina) Asher from St. Louis, Mo.
Gary graduated from Senath High School and Arkansas State University. Gary retired
from Honeywell as Worldwide Director of Marketing after a successful career in plastic resin and enjoyed traveling all over the world with his job.
His diverse interests included gathering with family, attending church and joining his
many friends for games of golf. He was a true gentleman, with an infectious smile and laughter that made strangers into friends. Caring, spiritual and selfless with a gentle kindness, a lover of God, his wife, his daughter and family and friends in that order.
The family will receive friends from 12pm until service time at 1pm, on Thursday, August 24, 2017, with at Kirby Woods Baptist Church, in Memphis, TN, with Rev. David Love officiating,
with burial to follow at Memphis Memory Gardens.
Pall bearers are Joe Gattozzi, Chris Gattozzi, John Roebuck, Skeet May, Steve Asher and Dan
Asher.
