George Edward Luckett, 74, has now won the ultimate battle with cancer. Wholly and fully healed, passing into the gates of heaven on April 25, 2025, at their family home in Bartlett, Tn.
Born on October 16, 1950, George is preceded in death by his father, Marvin R. Luckett and mother, Frances (Sachenbacher-Luckett) Campbell, of Memphis. He is survived by his wife Cathy (McEwen) Luckett; sons Chris (Courtney) Luckett, Jon (Laura) Luckett, and Patrick (Megan) Luckett; 12 grandchildren: Peyton, Ryan, Julia, Dakota, Mac, Andrew, Annabelle, Mason, Charlie, Katie, Kyleigh, and Colton; brother Marvin “Lucky” Luckett of Bartlett; brother Richard “Ricky” Campbell of Water Valley, MS; uncle Hugh Pulley of Memphis.
Husband to Cathy of 53 years, father to three sons, and “Pops” to his twelve grandchildren, brother, and friend; his presence here on earth will be deeply missed. There is no doubt George is now either at the lake on his fishing boat or having a beer on the 18th hole. George was a true sportsman and loved his family and friends more than anything, except for Alabama Football. Watching the Memphis Tigers, the Memphis Grizzlies and narrating all things Alabama Football is where he spent quality time with his family. While heckling anyone who was a Tennessee Vols fan, all in wholesome fun, memories were made that will last a lifetime.
While providing for his family, George worked at MicroPort for over 30 years, until retiring in 2019. A lover for all things involving spreadsheets, his analytical presence was one to be admired. Instilling hard work, drive, and determination he passes his legacy to his family.
Though his time on earth has ended, the impact he has made on those closest to him will continue for eternity in heaven.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Luckett Family Home at 8028 Old Brownsville Rd Bartlett, Tn on May 31, 2025, from 1:00-5:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in memory of George Luckett.
