Gerald Wayne Smith "Mr. Wonderful" was born on April 30, 1941, in Dyess, Arkansas, to Juanita and Jack Smith, and passed away at home surrounded by family on July 21, 2018. Gerald was the oldest of eight children, Brian (deceased), Harvey, Joyce, Stephanie, Sue (deceased), Ronnie (deceased), and Gary. Gerald was married to Dorothy (Dot) Fisher on September 25, 1976, and they shared 42 blessed years together. They shared five children. Tammy Sargent of Austin, TX and her husband, Darrell, Mark Smith of Wichita, KS, and his wife, Donna, Teri Hall of Charleston, WV, and her husband, Kent, Randy Sanders of Tallahassee, FL, Tim Smith of Ventura, CA, and his wife, Diana. Grandchildren, Jennifer, Ryan, Billy, Grant, Grayson, Shelby, Kaycie, Millicent, Daniel, Casey, and Caleb and 3 great grandchildren, one on the way, and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. Gerald worked for Chevrolet dealerships in the Memphis area and retired in 2000. He was an active member of the Memphis Bop Club for many years. He was also an active member and officer of the Walnut Creek Home Owners Association. Gerald was generous to a fault, loving, enjoyed dancing and music, his family, a great father, grandfather and great-grandfather and an excellent example to others. Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, July 24th, 2018 from 9:00am to 10:00 am with a service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
