Gerald Edgar Staples, Jr., 68, of Lakeland, TN, passed away February 12, 2014 in Memphis. Mr. Staples, the husband of Joanne Staples, was a graduate of Greenwood High School in Greenwood, Mississippi and also attended Mississippi State University. He was a retired computer programmer analyst for MC2. Mr. Staples was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie Staples and Gerald Edgar Staples, Sr. He is survived by a daughter, Sheila Chapman, a son, John Paul Staples, and a brother, Paul Staples. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Will and Colin Chapman and Amelia Staples. A Memorial Service will be held Friday February 21, 2014 at 4pm at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Bartlett.
