Dr. Granville Allen "Doc" Murray, 81, of Collierville, TN died suddenly of a heart attack on September 14, 2021. Allen was born in Jackson, TN, the only child of U.S. and Patty Murray. He attended Memphis State University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. He received a D.D.S. degree from the University of Tennessee. After two years of public health service with the U.S. Army in North Carolina, he returned to 17 years of private dental practice. Following his dental practice, he taught Biomaterials at the University of Tennessee Dental School until his retirement in 2000. He also served in the United States Army Reserve where he retired as a Colonel. Allen leaves his wife of forty years, Mary A. Murray of Collierville, his daughters Susan Murray of Germantown and Michelle Ashbery (Tom) of Collierville and three granddaughters, Gemma Murray, Grace Ashbery and Olivia Ashbery. Graveside services will be held Monday, September 20, 2021, at 10:00 am at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Bartlett. Memorials can be sent to St. Jude.
