Harold Kenneth Hastings, age 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep, closing a remarkable chapter of faith, perseverance, and service.
Harold will be greeted in heaven by his late wife Shirley Hastings. He was the proud father of Larry Hastings (Carol) and the late Sharon Hastings Adair. He was a grandfather to Jeremy Adair and Amanda Lavelle (Lee), and a great-grandfather to Tyler and Taylor Lavelle. He is also remembered as a brother to four siblings, each part of the fabric of his long and steady life.
A deeply faithful Christian, Harold lived his life guided by conviction and purpose. He came to Memphis as a young man with only a handful of cash and a strong will to succeed. He began as a plumbing apprentice and, through hard work and determination, built a successful business of his own.
Beyond business, Harold had a heart for mission work, traveling to multiple countries to help those in need. His efforts overseas reflected the same quiet strength and commitment that defined his life at home.
He may not have been one to express emotion easily, but Harold loved unconditionally—with loyalty, constancy, and the kind of care that never needed to be spoken to be felt.
He leaves behind a legacy of service, resilience, and unwavering faith. He will be missed and remembered by all whose lives he quietly but powerfully touched.
