

Howard was born to Major and Pearl Morton on February 4, 1934, in Ashland, Mississippi. After graduating from Ashland High School, Howard served 22 years in the United States Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, he went on to work at Firestone Tire and NuSash Windows and Doors in Memphis, Tennessee, until he finally decided to retire.
His family will remember him as a loving, kind man who loved his family and friends and was always willing to help them out. He enjoyed working on old cars and was a member of Shelby County Street Rods and Memphis Classic Chevy’s. He was a member of the Limestone Masonic Lodge #214 in Limestone, Maine, and tried to live his life by their values. To his children, he was loving and fair and made sure to instill in them the importance of education. He could be found most Saturdays tinkering on his antique cars or spending time with his family. He enjoyed going to car shows and won many trophies.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Linda. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Helen, with whom he had three children, Deborah Hays (Kevin) of Round Rock, Texas, Donna Whittington of Bartlett, Tennessee, and Howard Dale Morton of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas. Howard also leaves behind his loving sister Evelyn (Jack) Weatherly of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and a stepdaughter Paige Marcantel (Brian) of Germantown, Tennessee. He will be greatly missed by his 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Gary Morton, his parents Major and Pearl Morton, a brother Boyd Morton, a sister Frances Frazier.
To celebrate Howard's life, family and friends will gather at 1:00 pm. on Saturday, October 11 until services begin at 2:00 p.m. all in the Lakeland Hall of Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens at 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee 38133.
