James Daniel "Danny" Griffin

James Daniel “Danny” Griffin, 60, of Lakeland passed away Monday, April 13, 2015 at Methodist Hospital-Germantown. He was a passionate and dedicated farmer for 35 years, a 1972 graduate of Rosemark Academy where he played basketball, 1976 graduate of University of Tennessee-Martin where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. Danny was an avid Tennessee Lady Vols and Memphis Grizzlies fan, was a lifelong member of Chambers Chapel United Methodist Church and was currently serving on the board of directors with Farm Bureau. He was a loving husband, father, son and paw-paw to those he leaves behind, his loving wife of 14 years, Marla Griffin; mother, Nina Hughes Griffin of Lakeland, TN; daughter, Kristin Griffin Dixon (Lee) of Brighton, TN; son, Justin D. Griffin (Kelly) of Lakeland, TN; step-son, Derick Burks (Marie) of Arlington, TN; grandchildren, Sadie Griffin, Baylor Dixon, Ellie Kate Dixon and Chris Burks; and was preceded in death by his father, James E. Griffin, Jr. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett TN 38133. The family requests that memorials be sent to Chambers Chapel United Methodist Church-Lakeland, TN.
